iPhone 4S and iPad 2 untether to be released real soon.
Well it’s taken a while but it is finally here and assume Apple won’t be happy.. Hacker pod2g and the Chronic Dev Team have released the first untethered jailbreak for Apple’s iPhone 4S and iPad 2.
In a statement on pod2g’s blog, the well known hacker said, “I know the wait was long, too much long, but it’s about to end! You’d be able to free your iPhone in some hours.
A tool named Absinthe and developped by the Chronic Dev Team will install the untether on your device. Also the iPhone Dev Team will release a CLI (command line) tool to help diagnose issues and repair things if it goes wrong.”
Jailbreaking your iPhone allows users to not only use iPhones on other carriers, but also allows for unauthorized applicatins to be loaded on the iPhone and iPad.
Although Apple have made it more difficult over time to jailbreak te iPhone 4S, hackers are still taking the time and making the effort. pod2g’s further stated at his blog, “As you already know, different security researchers put a lot of energy to work out the different issues we had to install the untether on new devices”.
The jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 is called “Absinthe A5″ and is only available now for Mac users with Linux and Windows versions to be released shortly. The current version Absinthe 0.1.2-2 is available at http://pod2g-ios.blogspot.com/.
